I suppose not many people read English newspaper to learn idioms for TOEIC and business English. I enjoy reading English papers especially world news, classifieds and business section. But my main reason to read it is to find out which vocabularies and idioms they frequently use in business, economics and marketing section.
In doing so, I have come to notice the word choices in these sections are tend to be quite similar and how these go hand in hand (together, along with, in close association) to achieve 990 score for my TOEIC test. When I was making my own words list, I realized that the words frequently use in English paper is also the most commonly used in TOEIC test.
Instead of memorizing words robotically, I could learn from English paper while reading interesting topics. It would be great way to memorize both TOEIC and business English. Maybe you are in the same boat (two or more people are in the same boat, they are in the same unpleasant situation.) as I was, forget all the words at next day. Don’t you think it is wasting your time to memorize or study English in boring or ineffective way?
Well, everyone needs to be multi-task (do many things at once, to perform two or more tasks simultaneously.) when preparing for test, such as grammar, vocabulary, listening and writing. It is important not to look for ways to cut corners (to do something in the easiest and shortest way, especially at the expense of high standards). Think about why do you want to get high score for TOEIC or improve business English skill, to study at overseas or want to get job at US company?
I think even at times when you have been between a rock and a hard place (a dilemma, two possibilities that are not good) you should keep up motivation and focus on what you want to achieve.
Don’t miss the boat (miss an opportunity, fail to understand something) so you will do everything in your power to land on your feet (to do well, to succeed, to be lucky or successful, especially after difficulties).
